Description

The wolf has appeared throughout world history as a symbol for both loyalty and freedom and while it is attributed with being both a loner and a pack animal that doesn’t even scratch the surface of what the wolf represents.

One example wolf folklore is the story of Romulus and Remus, founders of Rome. Legend has it that the two founding brothers were raised by Lupa, the wolf goddess. Another example of wolf mythology is their kinship with witches as “familiars”. The Celtics see them as a source of Lunar magic. In Norse Mythology the wolf is a symbol of power as it it ridden by Odin, king of the gods. In Asian culture they are believed to guard the doors to the celestial realms. The wolf is believed to he highly intelligent, resourceful, contemplative and a wild yet noble creature.
